Industrial thermocouples for non-ferrous metals
"CTAL" range

Such thermocouples are suited for immersion in the melting materials. They are therefore protected by a cast iron, silicon carbide or Sialon protecting tube. The choice of the material depends on the requested performances.
Each one of these protecting tube materials holds advantages and drawbacks as far as mechanical or thermal resistance or longevity are concerned. Environmental and operating conditions are key elements when it comes to choosing the right material. Protecting tubes offering good mechanical resistance are for instance recommended in high capacity melting ovens whereas protecting tubes with high resistance to corrosion are best suited for temperature

Type K, N, S thermocouples for temperature measuring up to +1200°C
Accuracy
Accuracy depends on :
- Thermocouple wire tolerances as per NF EN 60584-2 standard
- Tolerances of the sensors as per UTE 46201 standard
Reduced tolerances are available on request
Mechanical data
Thermocouples may be mineral sheathed with magnesium oxide insulation for a stronger protection against corrosion. They may also be protected under ceramic insulating beads.
Applicable standards
IEC 60584
UTE 46201
Additional applicable standards are taken into consideration upon customer request.

- "L1" length on customer request
- "L" length and "D" diameter depending on protecting tube material

Standard sensing elements:
simplex or duplex thermocouple

Available fittings :
- female:female 2" - 3/4"
- 1/2" GCY, 3/4" GCY, 2" GCO fitting
- 1/2" GCY female/female nipple
Electrogalvanized soft steel
cast iron fitting between arm and protecting tube
- Aluminium head with screwed or lever lid
- IP54 to IP67 protection index
- A connection via cable or connector may replace the connecting head

Recommendations
- Cast iron protecting tubes must be dressed when not enamelled
- Pre-heating is highly recommended to avoid thermal schocks
- These sensors should be handled with care to avoid shocks, especially when cleaning slags
- Other components than the protecting tube should stay in contact with the molten material
